Mr. Thorn joined in 2012 and leads Two Sigma’s private investment and venture businesses. In addition to being the Chief Executive and Chief Investment Officer of Sightway Capital, Mr. Thorn serves as a Venture Partner and Chair of Two Sigma Ventures and is a Managing Director of Two Sigma Investments. Wray has spent his career identifying, financing, structuring and investing in private investment and venture capital transactions, including being involved in numerous management buyouts transactions, venture investments, add-on acquisitions, realizations, corporate financings, fundraisings and other principal transactions, and numerous leverage financings totaling in excess of approximately $25 billion in aggregate consideration.
Prior to Sightway, Mr. Thorn was a senior managing director with Marathon Asset Management, L.P. where he served as a senior member of the firm’s investment management team and developed the firm’s private equity investment activities. In addition, Mr. Thorn was actively involved in leading a number of Marathon's other new business opportunities, investor-related activities and capital formation initiatives, including the firm’s middle-market direct lending business and its participation in the U.S. Treasury’s Legacy Securities Public Private Investment Program. Prior to Marathon, Mr. Thorn evaluated and completed management buyout opportunities as a director with Fox Paine & Company, LLC and financed corporate and private equity-sponsored acquisitions in the Acquisition Finance Group at Chemical Bank (today, J.P Morgan Chase). Mr. Thorn currently serves or has served as a member of the Board of Directors and Advisory Boards of 20 public and private companies and investment funds as well as Co-President of the Board of Directors of Youth, INC and a member of the Board of the St. Stephen of Hungary School Foundation, Inc. Mr. Thorn earned a B.A. in Government, cum laude, from Harvard University.
